Top Wide Receivers in 2016 NFL draft
1. Corey Coleman, Baylor – Coleman has elite athleticism,
and is really great after the catch. The first
2. Josh Doctson, TCU – He has top level hands and
ability to catch. He caught 74.7% of his targets which is 10% better than
anyone else. He has very good athleticism,
second only to Coleman. He doesn’t have deep speed like Fuller and Coleman, but
he does have short area quickness. He is good when double covered and good
versus contested catches. He also doesn’t drop many balls. He had the second
best statistical year with a 17 yard average and 1326 yards during his senior
year even though he was injured part of it.
3. Leonte Carroo, Rutgers – I like him a little
better than Tredwell because he catches a high percentage of balls and drops
less catchable balls. He also had a much longer average than Tredwell and is
more athletic. He has some possible behavior flags though.
4. Laquon Tredwell, Ole Miss– Not very athtlic and
not that amazing statistics. He also only caught fifty percent of his targets.
He has a long reach and makes some hard catches look easy though. He is good
after the catch and good at catching contested balls. If he can catch a higher
percentage, he can be very good.
5. Tyler Boyd, PITT – He has good long speed and
decent athleticism. He isn’t great versus contested catches and tends to go
down easily in space. He does catch a high percentage of balls though. His
senior average wasn’t good at 10.2, but his career numbers are better. he can
also run the ball well.
6. Will Fuller, Notre Dame – Top level speed. Very
fast over the top. Not as quick in short spaces as Coleman though. He has
problems with drops and doesn’t catch a high percentage of balls. He has small hands
and doesn’t weight very much at 186lbs. He could be a good deep threat, but his
catching issues could limit him. It seems like people are overrating him based
on his 40 time.
7.Sterling Shepard, Oklahoma – Gets pushed around
some, but catches a high percentage of balls and doesn’t drop many of them. He’s
also good when doubled, but not as good with contested catches. He’s shifty in
space, but not an elite athlete.
